i'm in the middle so when my ass gets kicked, i turn around and pass it on!
this post reminds of of why i don't work for companies any longer. some marketing jock puts a fucking pin in a calendar and nothing short of an Act of God can remove that pin. i call this The Excalibur Principle. i can't count the times i've been pushed to meet arbitrary deadlines, and for no other reason than the marketing person "felt" that the deadline "should" be this date. the truth is, all your people are giving up their personal time and (a) they'll never get it back, and (b) in the end, it won't make a fucking bit of difference because somewhere there is a designer who is about to negate the shit that you did during your holiday anyway.
Andres, what a bummer! I know nothing I say will make it better. Hold out for a Christmas miracle, even though you don't celebrate, stranger things have happened! :-)
This is my fifth Christmas without my family and it sucks. However, the best thing about families they'll still be there when you do make it home and they're going to be extra extra happy to have you back safe and sound.
Just focus on getting your work done and you'll be home sooner than you think.
