as most people know by now, last week was chinese new year
here in taiwan, we had the entire week off
we spent most of that week on the road
took off from taipei and drove south along the west coast to spend one day in yunlin county visiting karen's grandpa
from there, we went further south and around the southern tip of the island; which took us into taitung where we hung out with ivan, his cousin and their familia for 4 days
the road home took us north from taitung along the east coast going through hualien and yilan and then back to taipei
all in all, we ended up driving over 1,300 km (800+ miles)
my first time driving around the entire island and i can't wait to do it again
next time, i wanna spend more time and visit more places
regardless, i wanna go back to taitung real soon tho'
it was just simply beautiful with lots of nature and cultural diversity
a real laid back and relaxing place
my kind of place
i'd love to live there for a while
at the moment, taitung is my favorite place in taiwan... with kenting a close second

taichung getaway
first things first
happy valentine's day
yea, i know
i'm late with it
the day is almost over
hey, better late than never
valentine's came early for us tho'
we gave ourselves a little treat and went to taichung to stay at the windsor hotel this past weekend
great experience
from hotel itself to the service to the food...
just wonderful
pretty fancy and modern decor and architecture
the only thing i would complain about tho'...
hotel room was a bit too small
the best thing tho'...

wow!
two words...
total relaxation
this was one of best i've ever experienced, almost on par with the lalu
it's been a few years since i've been to taichung city
i forgot how nice of a city taichung is
wider roads
less traffic
less people
less developments
less cluster
it was just a nice change of pace and feel
maybe i've just been in taipei too long

year-end party
last saturday was our company's year-end party (weiya)
i was really looking forward to it this year
especially because they announced that this year's cash prize was gonna be the most ever
ranging from nt$10,000 to nt$50,000 (a little more than us$1,500), some being multiple draws
for some reason, i felt pretty good about my chances this year
obviously, i had my eyes on the 50k top prize, but 10k wouldn't be all that bad either
you know where i'm going with this
