like every other countries and cultures, taiwan has its own trends
sometimes cool
sometimes weird
sometimes funny
sometimes just plain stupid
one of the latest trends i've been seeing falls into that last category
i don't know if it was copied from another country or it originated here
i do know it's just stupid
i'm talking about putting european union license plates under the taiwan plate
don't know what i'm talking about?
first of all... that's just ugly
it just looks dumb
ok... fine
they think it's cool
i can understand if the car was an audi, volvo, volkswagen, peugeot, bmw, benz or any of the actual european cars
i'll let it slide
but then... they've got these on nissans, hyundais and toyotas!
people are actually buying these to put on their cars
not only that... the euro plates are blank!
just look
hmmm... hello?! you drive a.....
NISSAN!
euro plate!?!?
on a nissan!?!?
my thoughts exactly...
WTF?!?!

tool shop reunion
rich, who is from our chicago office, was in town working on a project with us
peter used to work with rich in chicago but then he got transferred to our thailand factory
when our factory in thailand closed, peter lost his job there but he stayed in thailand anyways, where he still lives now
peter had to renew his thai visa and when he heard that rich was in town, it was an automatic decision to come get his visa in taipei
it was a rare occasion for all three of us to be in the same place, so we went out for a few drinks
the guys from my shop joined in on the fun
a few drinks, eh?
try 35 bottles of taiwan beer...

or as my friends from the usa calls it...
"mini" hooters
amen to that!
anyways, i like going there
not the best food, but it's good grub to go with the beer
the place is kinda expensive but it's still fun to go once in a while
really, the best thing about the place are the girls
the girls are average looking at best tho' but they sure know how to twirl them hula hoops
they put on a pretty good show
a few videos i took...
this next video was not taken by me
just found it on youtube but i thought i'd post it since it's better quality than my vids
enjoy...

meet-up at the taiwan beer bar
a note from the bushman...
"Hui-chen and I met blogger Andres and his wife Karen (and co-worker Rich) last weekend. As it turns out, we sort-of "met" Prince Roy, but we didn't have a chance to talk about anything. Michael Turton has also expressed an interest in meeting Andres and Karen, along with an interest in hanging out at the Taiwan Beer Bar too.
This is Prince Roy at the Taiwan Beer Bar (2nd from left), but I didn't know it at the time this photo was taken. I was shooting the tacky beer bottle lights. What ambiance.... lol
So, how about it everyone? How about a Blogger Beer Meeting at the Taiwan Beer Bar this Saturday evening? Hui-chen and I will be there after 18:00.
All due respect to Dr. Jerome Keeting for his programs of elevated content for bloggers held on the first Saturday of every month. We just want to drink some cheap brew and talk trash.
Everyone is welcome to hang out with us, blogger or not! We love to meet readers too of course! Hope to see you all there!"
come one, come all
this saturday 5/12 at the taiwan beer bar
"cheap brew and trash talk"
it'll be fun
see y'all there...

a rich night with the bushman
i've been a fan of his great blog for some time now
read it on the regular
the one and only...
the famous bushman, michael klein
after some correspondence, we met up in taipei this past friday for dinner (some japanese restaurant) and some drinks (at the restaurant and then at jolly's right across the street)
michael was a very colorful, interesting, intelligent and knowledgeable guy to say the least
just an all around cool guy to talk to and down a few with
we had a great time and i can't wait to do it again
the one and only... the famous bushman
ladies of the night... the very lovely hui-chen and the wifey
the boys
a self-portrait of the boys... taken by yours truly
michael has better photos and a recount of the night here... http://thenhbushman.blogspot.com/2007/05/hanging-in-taipei.html
make sure to read michael's post all the way to the end
just wild and crazy
michael and hui-chen, i'm very sorry to hear y'all had to go through that
it was great to meet you guys
thanks again for the good times

live to fight another day

another year, another disappointment
bye bye lakers
i really hope the lakers can win a few more titles in my lifetime
and i do hope kobe gets one more before he retires, but only as a laker
i couldn't care less if he played for another team
i highly doubt it tho'
he needs help out there
altho' i do like the current roster...
the lakers just ain't going nowhere with the current roster
oh well, as usual....
there's always next year

a rich night at taiwan beer factory bar
my friend & colleague rich from chicago was in town again
as a matter of fact, he's still here
he'll be here until next thursday 5/10
we've got a big project going on at work, so he's been spending quite a bit of time out here
anyways...
as always, whenever he's in town, we go out for a few drinks
as always, the usual suspects joined us
this time, we decided to go to the taiwan beer bar, which is located right in the taiwan beer factory

if you like taiwan beer, this is the place to be
a cool hang out with outdoor seating area that only serves taiwan beer
i think this has to be the cheapest place (not counting convenient stores) to down a few in all of taipei city (downtown)
nt$600 (about us$18.5) for a 4000 ml keg of beer
or nt$50 (about us$1.50) for a 600 ml mug of beer
not bad
not bad at all
