after being together for over 10 years, my cousin charlotte and her bf andrew finally got married a few weeks ago in australia
this past weekend charlotte and andrew had their wedding reception for andrew's family in kaohsiung; to which we were invited to attend
for those who don't know, here in taiwan there are two separate wedding receptions. one for the groom's family and friends; then another one for the bride's family and friends
the shindig for our side of the family will be this coming weekend, so look for a post about it some time next week
one of the highlights of this trip was taking the taiwan high speed rail
i've taken it before but it was olivia and karen's first so i was excited about that; altho' they slept most of the ride!
well, they sure did not get much sleep because the ride was only 1.5 hours
compare that against 4.5 hours drive by car (over 6 hours with traffic) and you know i think the high speed rail just kicks ass!
well, congratulations to charlotte and andrew... wish you guys the best
now, on to some photos...

i had to jump in and at least get a photo with me in it
my cousins went there a day ahead of us to spend an extra day hanging out in kaohsiung. upon our arrival, we went to their hotel room first to get changed and ready for the reception / lunch party. this is a shot looking out the window from the 17th floor room
becky and olivia both dolled-up and ready to partay!
but before we leave, a papa and daughter self portrait (olivia doing her "bird" lips)
the decor in the front by the main table. yup, for some reason they decided the put the name of the font "lucida handwriting" underneath the heart on the right. maybe there's a special meaning for charlotte and andrew (he wrote his first love letter to her in that font or something like that... i don't know, i never asked them). i'm thinking the restaurant just didn't know what to put there, so they just printed the font name they were using for the decorations thinking your typical taiwanese wouldn't know or notice (walk around taiwan and read some of the printed shirts around here... some funny shit!), but then the font they were using is not even lucida handwriting. wtf?!

looking out the window from the restaurant on the 12th floor. it was nice to see the ocean... and with the super nice weather outside plus being only just a hour away from kenting, i really had the urge to just drop everything and go there!

party through the eyes of a kid
once in a while, our company holds a dinner party for the staff as a way to losen up, bond with one another and basically have fun (or just an excuse to get drunk!)
the last one we had was a few months ago and i was feeling a bit lazy (and tipsy) so i handed my camera to this kid and told to him to help take pictures.....
he's my colleague's son but i forgot his name and age (i think around 8) now
i'm glad i gave him the camera because his dad said he was getting bored so he really enjoyed taking pictures and had a lot of fun
well, take it away kiddo...
he did a great job given the not-so-good shooting conditions (lots of drunk people "moving objects") and surprisingly showed pretty steady hands
plus, he even managed a shot of the waitresses.....
that's my man!
