last weekend we decided to go to yingge, which is famous for its pottery, ceramic and porcelain.....
we started off at the yingge ceramic museum.
as usual, olivia was very happy to be out and about. it was actually pretty cold that day, about 15C, hence all the layers of insulation on her.
check her throwing up some gang signs! actually, she's trying to make the "V" or peace sign that asians love to make when taking photos. i guess it's more of a "Y" sign out here, since it stands for "YEAH" here.
there was some show inside promoting some type of event which we didn't really pay attention to because as in typical taiwanese fashion, it was rather too loud.
very cool and artistic lockers.
old style oven used for the ceramics.
a display showing the processes involved in the making of these artifacts.
old style toilet, which looks exactly like the squatters you find in public bathrooms out here now. words of wisdom, if you plan to visit taiwan..... learn to squat!
old style kitchen. i still remember these in many relative's homes when i was a kid visiting taiwan in the summer.
a display showing the different traditional objects produced from ceramic used to decorate homes.
it wasn't all traditional artifacts on display. there were some "modern" works of art as well.
what i really liked is the park at the back of the museum. plenty of open space for olivia to run around.....
and run around she did! so much so that she got pretty tired and just suddenly stopped to take a breather. (no, she didn't stop to take a poo altho' it does look like she is)
"you scream, i scream. we all scream for ice cream!"
olivia trying to hide from me. guess she also got tired of all the photos i was taking of her.
we left the museum and went to the yingge old street, which was pretty packed.
sure she looks happy and wide awake here, but she fell asleep soon after this photo was taken which allowed us to go through the streets and shops at our pace.
the streets where lined up with tons of stores with all sorts of ceramic works.
there were also lots of odd artwork.
we really like going to yingge and we highly recommend it to everyone. here's the google maps for yingge.....
