hong kong trip 2009 - part 2

continuing with our trip to hong kong earlier this month.....

hong kong trip 2009
we spent our entire second day inside the disneyland theme park.

hong kong trip 2009
once inside you can immediately feel the x'mas spirit and atmosphere in the air.

hong kong trip 2009
even the mascots had x'mas themed clothes on. olivia was super excited when we first saw them but she was pretty scared when we walked up to them. guess they are a lot bigger in person than on tv!

hong kong trip 2009

hong kong trip 2009
the "main street" where they had tons of shops and stores of all sorts.

hong kong trip 2009
ups seemed to have paid big bucks because their presence was pretty eminent all over the place.

hong kong trip 2009
just about everywhere you went, there was some kind of performance or show going on.

hong kong trip 2009
the famous disney castle in the distance, which was a lot smaller than i expected it to be. in fact, the whole park was a lot smaller than i expected.

hong kong trip 2009
a closer look at the castle.

hong kong trip 2009
a lot of rides we couldn't go on including this here. notice the number "20" under "STAND-BY ENTRANCE". yup, that's 20 minutes waiting in line to get on the ride. k, thanks but no thanks.

hong kong trip 2009
some rides we could go on but again the line-ups were pretty long so we just passed up.

hong kong trip 2009
taking a break and enjoying some popcorn.

hong kong trip 2009
the small world christmas ride which was a lot of fun, altho' the song "it's a small world" was quite annoying and was stuck in my head for a while.

a short video taken inside the ride.

hong kong trip 2009
and with mickey. we did also get photos with pluto and that's about it. the line-ups for donald, daisy and minnie were too long and i didn't want to wait around.

hong kong trip 2009
this was taken during the line-up while we waited to take a photo with mickey. guess i'm not the only one who's not fond of line-ups.

hong kong trip 2009

hong kong trip 2009
olivia was so tired she just passed out in my arms so unfortunaly we missed the supposedly very spectacular fireworks & lighting show. oh well, it just means we have to come back again!

hong kong trip 2009
our hotel.

hong kong trip 2009
back in our hotel room where olivia woke up and later enjoyed some strawberries while watching disney cartoons of course.

hong kong trip 2009
in the meantime, karen and i enjoy our own little snack.

and that's that. we did spend one more day in hong kong but i didn't take any photos. all in all, it was a great little vacation but it was extremely tiring and stressful. that's mainly because we had to put up with olivia's tantrums since she didn't nor wouldn't take her afternoon naps. however, olivia had an absolutely blast at disneyland and ultimately, that's all that matters to us.

Looks like so much fun, Mel and I are planning to visit HK at some point during our time here. Happy New Year!

Thanks Shawn. Happy New Year to you and Mel! HK is a lot of fun, altho' a bit more polluted and crowded than taipei. y'all should try macau as well. flying to either place is so cheap too, so take advantage of it while you are still out here.

looks like a wonderful trip. It is indeed stressful to travel with a little kid. Yet, it will end up with a good memory for your family.

yvonne... yes, despite my complaints and the overwhelming stress, it was absolutely worth it. we can't wait to take her travelling overseas again!
