Farglory Hotel in Hualien

We went on a weekend trip to Hualien where we stayed at the beautiful Farglory Hotel and visited the Farglory Ocean Park. I didn't wanna make this trip into a huge post, so I decided to split it up into two posts. One mainly about the hotel and another one about the ocean park.

We decided not to drive there since it's a fairly long drive from Taipei (at least 5 hours without traffic), so we took the the train there. However, we didn't just any train there; we took the Formosa Express.

The Formosa Express is just a regular train that has been remodeled and redecorated. It is a lot cleaner and roomier so it did feel a lot more comfortable. What was really different was the "bar" (No alcohol. Well, I couldn't find any or maybe I didn't look hard enough) shown in the photo above and the karaoke room, which is the door in the far end of the photo. Also, the ticket came with a mealbox and some souvenirs.

We killed some time on the train by making paper planes and silly hats out of the brochures.

After we arrived at the Hualien station, we were picked up by the hotel shuttle. Here we approach the hotel which is located atop a mountain overlooking the ocean on one side and a valley on the other side.

The front of the hotel which faces a valley.

This is the view towards the valley below from the hotel's front driveway outside the lobby.

A panorama of the valley. Click on photo for a larger version. It was an even more spectacular view in person, especially with the great weather we were having.

After checking out the room and dropping off our stuff, we went to go grab some food at the Japanese restaurant located inside the hotel.

Somethings never change?

After eating, we walked around the hotel grounds. Olivia and I would end up spending a couple hours in this pool the next morning.

At this point we have had a fairly long day so we called it a night early as we were going to have another full day ahead of us.

Next stop..... the Farglory Ocean Park.
